Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, strategy, and warfare. Which is a pretty fancy résumé for a fairway driver, but the Discraft Athena actually earns the name.
This Z Swirl 3 Hole Athena brings Paul McBeth's dependable control driver into a premium swirled Z blend with the distinctive 3-hole treatment. With flight numbers of 7 | 5 | 0 | 2, it's built for controlled fairway shots, straight pushes, confident hyzers, and predictable finishes when randomly improvising is not part of the plan.
Flight
7 speed gives the Athena enough punch to cover useful fairway distance without turning it into a wide-rimmed missile you have to negotiate with.
5 glide keeps it moving down the fairway, while the 0 turn helps it resist unwanted drift when you put some power behind it.
The 2 fade gives the Athena its dependable finish: noticeable enough to trust, but not so aggressive that every throw immediately tries to escape left.
Z Swirl 3 Hole
Z Swirl combines the durability and clean release associated with Discraft's premium Z family with swirled visual character. The 3-hole version adds an unmistakable twist to an already proven mold.
Translation: it looks weird enough to make somebody ask about it, but it's still an Athena underneath—and that's the important part.

BDLD Real Talk
The Athena is not here to perform circus tricks.
It's here to do its damn job.
Throw it flat and it wants to push straight before giving you a reliable finish. Put it on hyzer and it holds the assignment. Give it some power and the zero turn means it isn't immediately looking for an excuse to wander off and explore another fairway.
That's what makes a good control driver useful: predictability.
Could you throw something faster?
Of course. You could also use a chainsaw to cut a sandwich.
The Athena is for the shot where accuracy actually matters and you'd rather land in the fairway than spend the next five minutes explaining how the tree kick was “almost perfect.”
And this Z Swirl 3 Hole version gives you all of that dependable Athena behavior with enough visual weirdness to satisfy the part of your brain that keeps buying discs even though your bag was “finished” six purchases ago.
Bottom Line
The Discraft Z Swirl 3 Hole Athena is a dependable 7 | 5 | 0 | 2 control driver built for accurate fairway placement, straight flights, and predictable finishes.
Wisdom says hit the fairway. The Athena gives you the tool. What you do after that is between you and the nearest tree.
